An innovative technology and engineering organisation is looking for an experienced Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer to join its product development team. This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on the design, development, testing and industrialisation of advanced electronic hardware , taking products from initial concept and architecture through to prototype, verification and production. Duties & Responsibilities

An innovative technology and engineering organisation is looking for an experienced Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer to join its product development team. This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on the design, development, testing and industrialisation of advanced electronic hardware , taking products from initial concept and architecture through to prototype, verification and production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the end-to-end electronic hardware development lifecycle , from requirements and architecture through to production.

• Design complex analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronic circuits .

• Develop detailed schematics and PCB designs using Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools .

• Design and integrate embedded hardware based on ARM, STM32, Microchip or similar microcontroller platforms .

• Perform component selection considering performance, reliability, availability, lifecycle and cost.

• Develop power-management solutions, including DC/DC converters, regulators, battery systems and power distribution .

• Conduct hardware bring-up, debugging, fault-finding and root-cause analysis .

• Use oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters and other laboratory equipment to diagnose hardware issues.

• Develop and execute hardware verification, validation, environmental and reliability testing .

• Work closely with embedded firmware engineers to ensure effective hardware/firmware integration.

• Consider EMC/EMI, signal integrity, thermal management and electrical safety throughout the design process.

• Produce engineering documentation including schematics, PCB files, BOMs, test procedures and technical reports.

• Support prototype assembly and transition designs into manufacturing and production .

• Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers on component sourcing, PCB assembly and production issues.

• Participate in technical and design reviews.

• Identify opportunities to improve product reliability, manufacturability, performance and cost.

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• BEng/BSc/ in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or a related discipline.

• 5+ years' experience in electronic hardware/product development, depending on the complexity of the products.

• Proven experience taking electronic products from concept through prototype, validation and production .

• Strong experience with schematic capture and PCB design .

• Proficiency in Altium Designer or a comparable PCB design package.

• Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics.

• Experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers .

• Strong hardware debugging and fault-finding capabilities.

• Practical experience using electronic laboratory test equipment.

ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE

Experience in one or more of the following will be advantageous

• STM32 / ARM / Microchip platforms

• Embedded C/C++

• RTOS

• CAN, SPI, I²C, UART, USB or Ethernet

• RF and wireless technologies

• Battery-powered electronics

• Power electronics and SMPS design

• Motor-control electronics

• Sensor integration

• High-speed digital design

• EMC/EMI testing and certification

• Environmental and reliability testing

• Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT)

• Production test equipment and automated testing

• LTspice or other circuit simulation tools

• Python for engineering/test automation
