Retail Finance Manager: CA(SA)

Introduction

South Africa’s leading Health, Beauty and Wellness Retailer is looking for an experienced highly analytical and commercially minded Retail Finance Manager II to join the Group Retail Finance team. This role requires a professional who can operate at both a strategic and operational level as well as build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.

The successful candidate will act as the Finance Business Partner for the Clicks Health, UniHealth, UniPharma and Acquisitions portfolio, providing strategic financial insight and commercial support to enable sound business decision-making. The role will also have a people management responsibility, leading and developing a team to deliver high-quality financial support and achieve business objectives.

Job Purpose

To enhance the financial health and performance of the organisation by providing strategic financial direction, commercial insights and decision support to the Healthcare and related business areas, while ensuring effective financial planning, governance and budget management. Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities Strategic Finance Business Partnering

• Provide strategic financial direction and commercial support to the Healthcare portfolio, including UniPharma and UniHealth . • Partner with business leaders to identify and communicate key financial risks, opportunities and trends . • Use financial data and business insights to support informed decision-making and drive business performance. • Build strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders and ensure alignment between financial and business objectives. Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis

• Support the annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes. • Ensure financial risks and opportunities are appropriately identified, assessed and incorporated into plans and forecasts. • Produce and present accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial information. • Analyse financial performance, highlight variances and recommend appropriate corrective actions. • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of agreed corrective actions. • Prepare financial simulations, scenarios and business cases to support new initiatives and strategic projects. Acquisitions and Commercial Support

• Conduct financial due diligence on significant pharmacy acquisitions in support of the Group's retail strategy. • Provide financial input into acquisition evaluations, feasibility assessments and business cases. • Assess the financial implications, risks and opportunities associated with potential investments and business initiatives. Leadership and People Management

• Manage and develop direct reports to ensure delivery against business objectives. • Foster a high-performing, engaged and collaborative team environment. • Provide coaching, guidance and support to team members to enhance capability and performance. • Ensure consistently high standards of financial analysis, reporting and business support. Governance and Operational Effectiveness

• Ensure financial activities and decision-making are aligned with the Group's governance framework and relevant accounting standards and principles.
• Promote efficiency, productivity and profitability through effective financial management.
• Support the efficient use and protection of company assets.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and business performance.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent. • CA(SA) qualification. Experience

• 6–8 years' relevant finance experience. • Experience in a commercial finance or finance business partnering environment. • Retail industry experience is advantageous. • Experience within a JSE-listed organisation • Experience in people management and developing high-performing teams. Knowledge and Skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards. • Strong commercial and financial acumen. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. • Ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights. • Strong financial modelling and business case development skills. • Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP and/or Business Intelligence (BI) tools would be advantageous. • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex business environment.
