Logistics Analyst - JHB

Introduction

Are you an analytical supply chain professional looking to take full ownership of international logistics workflows and cost-efficiency initiatives?

As a  Logistics Analyst , you will play a pivotal role in keeping our client’s supply chain agile, reliable, and cost-effective. Reporting directly to the Business Support Manager, you will manage both import and export stock planning, oversee end-to-end freight performance, and identify impactful cost-saving opportunities against key business targets. This position offers tremendous scope to implement process improvements, work extensively with enterprise ERP platforms (SAP R/3), and build strategic relationships with global logistics providers and third-party vendors.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Freight Spend Optimization:  Analyze and reduce overall freight expenditure year-on-year in alignment with corporate KPI targets.

• End-to-End Shipment Tracking:  Monitor, track, and trace all physical inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery and proactive ETA reporting.

• Freight Bill Auditing & Reconciliation:  Audit carrier freight invoices against agreed rate cards; initiate, track, and resolve carrier overcharge/undercharge claims.

• Claims & Discrepancy Resolution:  Lodge claims, manage discrepancy resolutions via the global portal, and oversee marine insurance claims under global transit policies.

• Export & Customs Compliance:  Prepare, review, and maintain comprehensive shipping documentation to ensure strict regulatory compliance and fulfillment of contractual obligations.

• Continuous Improvement:  Spearhead operational initiatives to eliminate bottlenecks, automate tracking workflows, and modernize logistics procedures.

• Inventory Replenishment & SAP Management:  Place and monitor stock replenishment purchase orders within SAP R/3 Sales & Distribution (SD), including direct coordination with third-party suppliers.

• Vendor & 3PL Collaboration:  Build and maintain productive working partnerships with third-party logistics (3PL) partners and carriers.

• Project Support:  Partner with Customer Services and Support units to coordinate logistics frameworks for large-scale customer tender rollouts.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Must-Haves

• Education:  Relevant tertiary qualification (Degree or National Diploma) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline (Matric/Grade 12 equivalent required).

• Experience:  A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a dedicated logistics, freight forwarding, or import/export analyst role.

• ERP Proficiency:  Proven experience utilizing SAP R/3 (specifically the Sales and Distribution [SD] and procurement modules).

• Technical Skills:  Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with strong capabilities in MS Excel for freight reporting and data reconciliation.

• Communication:  Excellent verbal and written English communication skills for reporting, cross-departmental alignment, and carrier dispute resolution.

Nice-to-Haves

• Practical experience managing claims through global marine insurance policies.

• Prior experience coordinating logistics distribution for multi-site tender deployments.

• Exposure to modern freight audit software or vendor management portals.
