Minimum Requirements : Grade 12. Basic computer literacy. Experiential knowledge of public libraries.
Descriptors: High level of literacy and a wide general knowledge. Very good communication skills to understand the users' information needs. Comfortable working with the public. Developing proficiency in the discipline. Work would be closely monitored.
Core Functions / Characteristics
- Applies basic concepts and knowledge to aspects within the library and Information Services discipline.
- Assists the public in meeting their reading, reference and information needs and enquiries at a basic level.
- Performs circulation control functions.
- Assists with library projects and outreach programmes.
- Performs allocated administrative and financial tasks.
- Shelving of library material and shelf reading.
